We have a proud heritage of British manufacturing and every body protector leaving our Northamptonshire factory is defined by 50 years of experience and development.
In some countries, body protectors are available exclusively via our stockists.
To find your local stockist you can use our Find a Stockist tool.
In other countries, you can buy body protectors directly online.
If you're unsure on where to buy or can't find the product you're looking for, get in touch with us.
We are proud to offer a wide range of size options on our collection of body protectors. Most models offer up to 100 size variations to fit each size and shape of rider.
Head to our Size & Fitting Guide page to access size charts for all our body protector models and a helpful fitting video.
If possible, we would advise getting fitted at one of our approved stockist. To find your nearest stockist visit our Find a Stockist page.
You can also use our helpful Fitting Guide to walk you through taking your own measurements to find your recommended size.
We can offer a Made to Measure service on body protectors.
As we offer over 100 stock sizes in our body protector models, we are confident that you will find a Racesafe to fit you. However if you have been fitted at one of our approved stockists, or have obtained your measurements using our fitting guide and are unable to find a size that fits, please either speak to your local stockist or contact us.
To clean your body protector we advise the product should be wiped clean with warm water and a damp cloth.
For other Racesafe items, please refer to the care instructions on the product or get in touch with us.
We recommend that you hang your body protector in a dry ventilated environment out of direct sunlight and avoiding extremes of temperature.
The recommendation is to replace body protectors every 3-5 years. Beyond that age there is degradation of the protective foam elements and the impact performance required by the safety standard can no longer be guaranteed. Unlike a hat, the protective materials do offer repeated performance after a fall, but do have a life span of 3-5 years.
As of October 2018 our products were recertified to the updated BETA 2018 standard. Since then all of our body products have been made with the updated labelling.
As with all body protectors, the protective foam elements do gradually degrade over a number of years. After a 3-5 year period there is a significant change in impact performance and we can no longer guarantee it is providing the intended level of protection. This is why body protector brands and BETA recommend replacing your body protector every 3-5 years and why the BETA 2009 standard has been removed from competition requirements 5 years after the 2018 standard was introduced.
If you have suffered a fall in your Racesafe body protector we would advise to give your garment a thorough visual inspection.
It is normally unnecessary to replace your body protector after a 'normal fall'. However if there is permanent damage to the foam there will usually be a noticeable indentation where the foam hasn’t recovered or a hardening of the foam in that area. In this case we would recommend replacing your body protector.
In addition to the above, we do recommend they are replaced approximately every 3-5 years. Beyond this period we cannot guarantee the foam retains its full impact performance.
